Mammalian cells, such as cancer cells, stem cells or primary cells, serve as fundamental models to understand biological processes, disease patterns and drug interactions. They are cultivated under conditions, which do not reflect their natural environment. As a consequence, biomedical research is hampered by the inconsistency and limited reliability of cell culture assays, reflected in high costs for research, drug development and toxicology.


faCellitate is operating at the interface between chemistry and biology. We create polymeric surface coatings for cell culture consumables, which enable the cultivation of cells in various fields of biomedical research, such as stem cell and cancer research, drug discovery and toxicology. We are using our unique polymer platform to direct cellular surface interaction, create a fully synthetic, biologically relevant environment and ultimately to increase the predictability and efficiency of preclinical cell culture models and reduce animal studies.
